One Day Old

It has been over a full day now since we brought Cecelia into the world. The hospital stay has been very busy with people in and out of the room checking on both mom and baby. Yesterday morning was probably the worst with people, we had about 10 different people in the course of about an hour, and we were so tired from laboring and surgery just hours before. The steady flow of people has gone down quite a bit and we have been able to get a little bit of rest last night and today. I was really tired and still have a cough, so I took some NyQuil last night and Michelle watched the baby and the Nurse helped Michelle, so I was able to get some sleep.

Cecelia is doing very well, she has been breastfeeding well and has been a pretty quiet baby so far. The only time she really cries is when we are getting her un-swaddled to wake her up to feed. She passed her hearing test and is only down 8 lbs., so her weight loss is below normal so far which is good. She has had no jaundice or any other conditions, and yesterday when the Pediatrician examined her, she said if mom was healthy enough, then the baby could have gone home yesterday.

Michelle is doing better, she is off the IV now and in less pain. They took the dressing off her incision last night and will remove the staples tomorrow morning before she goes home. She is still taking some pain medications to help with her abdomen and is still slow to get around. We were able to get up today and both got a nice shower and we went on a walk around the birthing pavilion to get Michelle up and moving. She is able to lift the baby, but nothing heavier, so I have been waiting on her to make sure she has everything that she needs.

We are scheduled to go home tomorrow around lunch time assuming Michelle is healthy enough to do so. We are very lucky all things considered and Cecelia continues to be a little angel. I am attaching a few other pictures from today, Cecelia hasn't really opened her eyes too much, and mom hasn't felt like taking a lot of pictures, so I will post more after we get home and she is more alert.

The proud first time Grandmother.

The proud Mom!
